Sidney Weisiger (1906-1975) was a plumber by trade but a historian by heart. He was active in local historical organizations and, upon retirement, he devoted himself to genealogical and historical research on the people and places of the Coastal Bend Region. From 1970 until 1975, Weisiger contributed weekly and later daily articles to the Victoria Advocate newspaper. Following his death in 1975, Victoria College purchased Sidney Weisiger's research notes and other manuscript materials. The Weisiger Collection is housed in the History Center where staff continues to transcribe its records to make them available online. Learn more
