VRHC has been collecting historical photographs from many sources for over 50 years. The majority of them are indexed in the Historical Photographs Collection. Another valuable collection is the Victoria Advocate Photo Morgue, photographs taken by Advocate photographers. T here are many unindexed photographs in our collections as well.

The VRHC Digital Collection contains selected materials from the Center's collections and archives. Included are selected photographs from the historical photographs collections, the Victoria Advocate Photo Morgue, Victoria College Students newspapers and yearbooks, and University of Houston-Victoria student newspapers
VRHC Historic Photograph Collection
The Historic Photograph Collection has grown over the years to over 23,000 photographic images, both print and negative. Diligently assembled by Victoria College faculty Charles Spurlin and Robert Shook and enhanced by the donations of thousands of photographs provided by local residents, the historical photograph collection contains studio photographs as well as snapshots of everyday life and events from the 19th century to the present.
Victoria Advocate Photograph Morgue Index
While active, the photo morgue was in regular use by newspaper staff members who created yearly handwritten indexes. These indexes have been transcribed and are available for online searching. The index covers photographs taken between 1950 and 1984.
